Tall Tree Ceramics was founded in 2019 by artist Mike Caemmerer, nestled in the heart of the Cascade Mountains in North Central Washington. This small-batch, wheel-thrown ceramic studio focuses on artisan craftsmanship.

Mike grew up in a creative environment, with a painter father and a weaver mother, which encouraged his exploration of various art forms. He first encountered pottery at the Grunewald Guild in 1988 and has primarily been self-taught since, benefiting from the guidance of incredible mentors like Jim Halvorson of Bloomington, Indiana. For many years, pottery remained a hobby as he balanced full-time jobs, but in the summer of 2019, he took the leap to make ceramics his daily pursuit.

His work showcases a love for form and a playful approach to boundaries. While his classic smooth, round pieces are still a hallmark of his style, his recent work combines his storytelling with his ceramics in his continuing Morse Code work. Both styles are present in his diverse portfolio. Each piece from Tall Tree Ceramics reflects Mike’s passion for artistry and the rich stories behind them.

Outside the studio, Mike is a dedicated theater artist, writer, director, and educator. He is happily married and the proud father of two accomplished and beautiful young women.
